borrow someone else’s controller and see if that fixes it
otherwise maybe it’s the game since the scratching can pretty much do anything really. it’s just unlikely that it’d only do that you’d be suprised. I’d had my metroid fusion game for a long time. and it runs but after a while sometimes at a certain stage some sound loop will fuck up and then after a while the game will get worse with the sound until it stops. but it’s not at the beggining.
so yeah check with a controller you’ve tested as fine. test other games with your controllers and see if that is broken. otherwise it’s the game.
